South Africa’s 2025-26 Cricket Season: No Men’s Test, Exciting Women’s Tours and T20 Action

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has unveiled the international schedule for the 2025-26 season, confirming that the Proteas men’s team will not host a Test match. Instead, the focus will be on limited-overs cricket, with the women’s team set to welcome Ireland and Pakistan for white-ball series, while the men’s team prepares for the T20 World Cup 2026.

Proteas Women’s Home Assignments

The South African women’s team will be in action against Ireland and Pakistan, with both series featuring three T20Is and three ODIs each.

  • Ireland Tour: December 5 – 19, 2025
  • Pakistan Tour: February 10 – March 1, 2026

The series against Pakistan will also mark the first round of the new Women’s Championship cycle, leading up to the 2029 ODI World Cup. Matches will be played across venues in Cape Town, Gqeberha, Johannesburg, Centurion, and Durban.

A highlight of the women’s season will be the Black Day ODI at Kingsmead Stadium, Durban, on March 1, 2026. This special match aims to raise awareness about gender-based violence.

Proteas Men’s Limited Overs Season

Although there will be no men’s Test cricket at home, the Proteas men will play a five-match T20I series against the West Indies between January 27 and February 6, 2026. This series will serve as vital preparation for the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will be held in India and Sri Lanka.

Additionally, South Africa’s men’s international window will be shorter due to overseas tours to Australia, England, Pakistan, and India between August and December.

Betway SA20 and T20 World Cup Preparations

Before the West Indies series, the Betway SA20 will take place, ensuring players get crucial match practice ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026.

CSA CEO Pholetsi Moseki expressed excitement for the upcoming season, stating:

“We are looking forward to seeing our women take on Ireland and Pakistan. These tours not only provide our team with strong competition but also give our fans an opportunity to watch the Proteas Women compete at their favourite venues across the country.”

With a busy season ahead, South African cricket fans can look forward to thrilling white-ball action, despite the absence of Test matches on home soil.
